Why this exists

Black and Black mixed heritage Disabled people face barriers to work that pile up. They face racism and disability discrimination. They face a system that makes them repeat their story to services that do not understand their experience. They want to work. They are less likely to be in work because of these barriers, not because of any lack of will or ability.

No Wrong Door brings together lived and living experience, community knowledge and local organisations. We find the barriers, gather the evidence, challenge poor practice and push employment support in Lambeth to do better. Lived and living experience shapes the work from the start.

What is happening now

From 23 September we are inviting Black and Black mixed heritage Disabled people to share their experiences of looking for work, staying in work and dealing with employment support. We are starting with people connected to No Wrong Door and our trusted community networks.

Taking part is on your terms

Sessions are paid.
Take part your way: in person, by phone or by video.
Materials arrive in advance, in the format that works for you.
Adjustments are arranged around you, and support workers are welcome.

What your voice shapes

What you share shapes the toolkit itself: what goes into it, the recommendations it makes, how it looks and how it feels to use. You will also hear what changed because of what you told us.

Who is behind this

The No Wrong Door partnership brings together Disabled people with lived and living experience, Disability Advice Service Lambeth and Black Thrive Lambeth. The Office of Art and Technology is designing the toolkit with the partnership.

Our shared goal: more Black and Black mixed heritage Disabled people in work in Lambeth by 2030, and the numbers to prove it.
